Job Purpose
To lead Stabex International Limited’s IT infrastructure, systems management and digital transformation initiatives to support efficient, secure, reliable and digitally enabled business operations.
The position is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the Company’s technology environment, ensuring the availability, security, and effective utilization of IT infrastructure, business applications and digital systems. This role also leads to digital transformation initiatives aimed at automating and improving business processes while ensuring appropriate governance, risk management, data protection and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
A. Strategic Technology Leadership
1. Develop and implement the Company’s IT and digital transformation strategy in line with business objectives.
2. Advise Management on technology opportunities, emerging technologies, risks and business improvement solutions.
3. Develop and maintain IT policies, standards, procedures and controls.
4. Identify opportunities to improve business efficiency through technology, automation and digital solutions.
5. Lead the responsible evaluation, piloting, procurement and scaled implementation of AI and machine-learning solutions across business functions.
6. Develop and lead the Company’s AI and data strategy—prioritising high-value use cases while building organisational AI literacy through training, change management, and safe-use guidelines for effective adoption.
B. IT Infrastructure, Systems and Security
1. Oversee the availability, performance, maintenance and lifecycle management of IT infrastructure, networks, hardware and business systems.
2. Manage business applications including ERP, POS and other digital platforms.
3. Ensure effective user access controls, cybersecurity, data protection, backup and recovery arrangements.
4. Monitor and resolve system issues, technology risks and security incidents.
5. Ensure effective IT support and service delivery across the organisation.
C. Digital Transformation and IT Projects
1. Lead digital transformation, automation and technology improvement initiatives.
2. Work with business departments to identify technology requirements and implement appropriate solutions.
3. Plan, manage and monitor technology projects in terms of scope, budget, timelines and quality
4. Coordinate system testing, implementation, documentation, user acceptance and project handover.
5. Evaluate the effectiveness and business value of implemented technology solutions.
D. Business Continuity, Risk and Compliance
1. Develop and maintain IT business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.
2. Identify and manage technology, cybersecurity and operational risks.
3. Ensure compliance with Company policies, applicable regulatory requirements, data protection and information security standards.
4. Support internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of agreed corrective actions.
5. Ensure technology operations comply with applicable HSSE requirements.
6. Develop and lead the Company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data strategy, identifying and prioritising high-value use cases for AI, automation and advanced analytics that improve operational efficiency, customer experience and decision-making.
7. Lead the responsible evaluation, piloting, procurement and scaled implementation of AI and machine-learning solutions across business functions
8. Build organisational AI literacy; sponsor training, change management and safe-use guidelines so business users can adopt AI-enabled tools effectively
E. Vendor, Budget and Resource Management
1. Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers and technology partners.
2. Monitor vendor performance, contracts, service levels and resolution of technology-related issues.
3. Prepare and manage the departmental budget and ensure effective use of technology resources.
4. Oversee the procurement, maintenance and lifecycle management of IT assets, licences and equipment.
5. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and value for money.
F. Team Leadership and Development
1. Supervise, guide and develop ICT and technology staff.
2. Allocate responsibilities, set performance expectations and monitor team performance.
3. Identify training and development needs and promote continuous learning.
4. Foster teamwork, accountability, innovation and professional conduct within the team.
G. Reporting and Performance Management
1. Monitor and report on IT operations, system performance, projects, incidents, risks and expenditure.
2. Track departmental KPIs and provide regular performance updates to Management.
3. Provide timely advice and recommendations on significant technology issues and opportunities.
4. Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to technology operations, systems and projects.
H. Enterprise Data Governance, Quality and Reporting/Analytics
1. Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and controls to ensure data accuracy, consistency, security and compliance across all business systems and platforms.
2. Oversee data quality management processes, including validation, cleansing and reconciliation routines, to ensure reliable, trusted data is available for decision-making.
3. Drive the design and delivery of enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities, partnering with business units to translate data into actionable insights.
Job Competencies
Academic Qualifications and Relevant Work Experience Requires
1. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field.
2. ITIL or PMP certification will be an advantage.
3. Minimum of 7 years’ relevant IT professional experience.
4. At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
5. Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure and systems management.
6. Experience managing technology projects and digital transformation initiatives.
7. Working knowledge of AI, machine learning, generative AI and data analytics and their practical application to business processes.
8. Understanding of AI governance, responsible-AI principles, model risk and emerging AI/data-protection regulatory requirements.
9. Experience managing IT vendors, service providers, and technology stakeholders.
10. Demonstrable exposure to leading or delivering AI, automation or data-analytics initiatives.
11. Certification or structured training in AI, data analytics or digital transformation an advantage.
12. Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, information security, and data-protection compliance, including adherence to Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
